Founded in 2014, Vessel Coasters is the final product of a long search for the perfect coaster. I have spent many years yachting in the Bahamas and boating in the Thousand Islands and was inspired to create a durable coaster that could withstand different climates and an active lifestyle. PVC was the best recyclable material for it would not degrade in the same way rubber or cork would and it offers a great non-slip backing so the coasters can be used indoors or outdoors. From this I created a collection of nautical and tropical designs. I also love to recall my summer days spent at the family cottage on the St. Lawrence River, and have designed a leather-topped coaster with a PVC bottom. They mix my interest in nature with clean, contemporary imagery and perfectly match what I was looking to feature in my own home.
All designs are hand-drawn by me and at times take months to perfect. Vessel Coasters are made in partnership with a local manufacturer in Canada where each coaster is hand-poured with PVC, and the layers and colours are all baked individually. I strive to design classic, functional coasters that will last for years to come. They are the perfect coaster for home, cottage, small vessels, and yachts.

More about Torie Sifton:
Torie always had a keen interest in the arts and followed this interest to complete an honours degree in Art History at Queen's University in Kingston, Canada. She then moved to New York City to pursue a Master's in Art Business at Sotheby's Institute of Art. While in New York, Torie discovered her love of design and completed a master's thesis about the hierarchy of the arts; highlighting the unnecessary valuation differences between fine art and the decorative object of function.
After completing her master's degree, Torie moved back to Toronto to pursue a career in commercial art galleries but quickly longed to shift into a creative role that worked within her love of being on the water. It was from there that she discovered the need for a non-slip, non-marking, and durable coaster for yacht and home. Vessel Coasters was born!
